It depends on the photo and the source format, but a camera JPG usually drops between 60% and 85% when converted to WebP at quality 82, with no difference you can see on screen.
Which quality should I choose?
Between 80 and 85 is the sweet spot: the difference stops being visible and the file drops a lot. Above 90 the weight climbs with no visible gain; below 70 you start to see banding in gradients.
Does compressing lose quality?
