Is PNG better than JPG for my photos?
It depends on what comes next. PNG loses nothing and suits editing or design; JPG weighs far less and suits sending or publishing. For a WhatsApp photo, JPG. For a photo you will retouch, PNG.
Why does the PNG weigh more than the HEIC?
Because it discards nothing. HEIC compresses hard and with loss; PNG stores every pixel. Growing three or four times over is normal and it is the price of keeping the original intact.
Does converting to PNG improve the quality?
No, and no converter can. The quality already lost inside the HEIC does not come back. What PNG guarantees is that from here on nothing more is lost.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes, the whole batch in one go, downloaded as a single ZIP. Bear in mind PNGs are heavier, so the ZIP will be bigger than with JPG.
